Bummer, Man...

Big Brown, you tried your hardest, and you ran a good race. Sorry about the loss of the Triple Crown dude.

According to Mr. Snowman (our thermometer) it only made it to 99 today. I dunno what it was at the airport where these things are recorded, but whatever. 99 sucks ass. Especially with a heat index of 105.

Tonight I made macaroni salad for the first time this summer. I thought you might like the recipe, as it kicks ass.

Julie's Macaroni Salad:

1 small box of elbow macaroni, boiled and drained
2 cups diced celery
1 cup finely diced onion
1/2 small jar sliced green olives with pimientos
splash of juice from jar of jalapenos
2 tsp celery seed
1 large dollop of mayonnaise

stir all together and refrigerate. serve.

On another bummer note:

Dear Woodrow,

The beautiful and majestic deer are eating my hostas. Please bring your gun and provide me with dinner. Gratefully, Julie

Woodrow is down at the lake drinking beer with all the senoritas. I'm sure he'll get back to you within a day or two.

I am just grateful no one got hurt in that there horse race. I worry about all those feet and ankles.

Hey, Julie I love you, but the deer were there before you, let the deer live, don't send Woodrow after them. Please.

Clearly, Annie has never had Woodrow's homemade venison jerky. Deer are people too, but that is some good jerky.

I love deer. I think they're amazing. But they also taste good. So it's a quandry.

Hey, I don't eat meat, except some fish. It's been that way since I was 13. I must say even if I did eat meat, I could not eat deer, they are too sweet looking, and I am a sap :-).

That sounds delicious but it needs cheese. The macaroni and the venison.

I'll shoot them if you'll gut and skin them and process the meat. Deal?

I had venison chili yesterday at a church supper -- the first meat I've had since April. It was delicious. At least, if you eat deer, you know you aren't eating something full of hormones and antibiotics.
